Position Summary

The Accountant/Senior is responsible for a wide range of compilation, review and audit engagements. Depending on the size, scope and complexity of an engagement, assignments typically include participation at varying levels in planning, budgeting and fieldwork, as well as preparation of workpapers and financial statements.

This position also supports the Tax Services Department with responsibility for assignments related to individual and corporate tax return preparation.

Education & Experience

This position requires an undergraduate degree in accounting or related business discipline and at least three years of current or very recent public accounting work experience. Completion of the Certified Public Accountant examination is preferred.

Technical Ability

  • Demonstrate mathematical aptitude, accuracy and basic accounting theory, including GAAP/GAAS, as well as familiarity with current tax laws and regulations.
  • Comprehend and complete engagement assignments, including the ability to provide guidance and assistance to less senior staff.
  • Prepare for and participate in and/or coordinate the engagement planning and budgeting process, including familiarity with goals, such as chargeable hours and realization.
  • Complete and/or review fieldwork assignments.
  • Prepare and maintain neat, accurate and efficient work papers and other documentation.
  • Draft standard sections of or complete financial statements for initial and/or final review.
  • Utilize research resources and/or seek internal assistance, in order to complete assignments or provide consultation regarding accounting issues.
  • Exhibit and expand ability to utilize software programs, including those typically relied upon with the Audit & Assurance Services Department

Professionalism

  • Respect and adhere to external rules, regulations and codes of professional conduct, including those promulgated by the AICPA/PICPA.
  • Demonstrate and expand command of GAAP/GAAS principles and familiarity with FASB and AICPA pronouncements and GAO/GASB, as applicable.
  • Complete continuing professional education credit hour requirements and/or other training opportunities.

  • Exhibit communication skills at all levels of professional and administrative staff, including various personalities.
